All,
I just wanted to drop you all a quick note about the Turbo TA Reunion this weekend: yours truly and Rob Downey (along with a small support crew) trailered our TTA's up to the show and came away BIG!
Rob and I discussed months ago when he purchased his hardtop / cloth TTA (1 of 15 such cars) that we would use a "Stripped or Loaded" theme and display our cars together at the first ever reunion show for the 1989 Buick powered Trans Am Indy Pace Car. Only 1550 of these super cars were produced and they married the aerodynamics and handling of the Trans Am with the famed Turbo Buick drive train. Fourty nine cars showed up and is certainly the largest gathering of them since they were new.
So how do you stand out in a large crowd of identicle cars? Well, you spend hours upon hours detailing and you also raise your cars, use mirrors and creat signs for your theme: all of which we did and it paid off.
Rob won 2 awards: rarest Turbo Trans Am and also 3rd place for his 28K mile TTA and I won Best of Show, original TTA.
We went to a lot of effort to win but the Texas boys of the LSPBC came up BIG!
