If you've never been to the Texas Mile, then you've missed out on cool cars and a great time. I've been the crew for a couple of my buddies on 210+ MPH motorcycles for a few years now, so this year I decided to partake in the fun. After some aerodynamic mods, I rolled the Turbo Buick Cobra out for some long distance, high speed tuning.

161.7 MPH on my final run with about 10 mph headwind/+gusty crosswind. A respectable speed(I think) for a topless, non-aerodynamic brick with a "little V6". There was more in the tune but a widening crack in the passenger header and a limited supply of big balls kept me at a relatively safe speed. The car was amazingly stable at those speeds and the engine did what it was built to do. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Ahh...Finally figured it out

That's awesome Rob! It looked like it took off like a rocket!

I cannot fix your links to the photos because is seems that they are missing the rest of the web address strings. Try sending me a direct link in a PM and I will see if I can correct it for you.

Is there any video of the GTM available too?

WhooHoo! Figured out the embedded pics...Updated in the first post.

Carl, Here's a screaming GTM run. A VERY squirrely 174.5.

Sweet! This month was the first time I missed in 3 years! It is an incredible time! And the cars out there are truly pieces of art. Decent mph, on par with a stock gtr... Now get some more in it!

I was planning on the MotorPlex, but the cracked header has put a stop to that. If the GSCA headers would get done soon, I could get that set put on in time...Or I might get the motivation to pull and weld it up next week.
I might see ya down there in Ennis.

I think the Land Speed Cobra will be retired after its maiden runs in the mile. Too fast and too hard to get there in an open top with no aerodynamics. I think 1/4 mile and road racing is a better fit...However...if a slicker platform were to come along, there might be a tiny V6 making another appearance. BigGrin
