Some of you here may already be aware of the accident involving these photos. Fortunately, this driver survived this but not without substantial injury. I am not going to go into those details here; but, if you want to follow the progress of this story further you can read the multi-page thread here: http://www.turbobuick.co...nt-west-coast-nats.html

If you look at these photos you may notice that the only area left unmangled on this vehicle is in the region of its basic roll bar. If the driver had not had this it likely would have been much worse. I'm not here to harp on the owner, but a few required safety items in place for this 9sec capable car may have made a lot of difference in reducing his injuries. After viewing these photos it may take me a while longer to get back up to full speed with my ride until I have a few more things in place. I encourage everyone to take a look at what Duke M. has done to his ride safety wise when you get a chance.

That is probably the most torn up turbo Buick race crash I have ever seen. Here is some video recently uploaded to YT. It makes me thankful that I already have the Kirkey Seats to help prevent the side to side injuries that this driver experienced. I think after seeing this, I am going to get a neck collar too.

Those guardrails are really short. When they are higher they tend to keep you between them and less damage to the vehicle and driver. On a side note there is never a ambulance at red line!! In fact at most small tracks no ambulance. So its up to us most of the time to insure our own safety. Think twice about that roll bar and put it in. I have a neck collar sitting in my tow truck never used. Think I will use it next time out.

After seeing a few of these vids, Tina has told Geoff get an roll bar installed. If he keeps getting faster he'll have to have it anyway.

Scared After seeing that video I was convinved! I have a guy in Red Oak that is going to install (hide) a 6pt in my car for a really good price. So far he is the cheapest around and he does good work. He will secure the cage to the frame, not the body like some so-called chasis guys! He builds race cars for a living and he stated, "I will have your car out in less than three days with my current work load."

Those of you also thinking about a roll cage should talk to LSPBC supporters Duke & Joe McClain at Mac's Performance.

Wow I didn't know Duke's shop installed roll bars? What is the typical price for a bar for a 11 sec car?

Kevin, if you don't mind me asking what does your guy charge?

Probably sometime in 2012, we'll get one done for Geoff's 98 Regal.
